Exceptional Cognitions was founded by Jeanie Martin with one simple belief: every student deserves an individualized approach to learning.
With a Master of Social Work, extensive experience in education, and years of helping students with diverse learning needs, Jeanie has developed a personalized process that combines academic support with an understanding of how students learn best.
Today, she continues to oversee student assessments, develop customized learning plans, and mentor every member of the Exceptional Cognitions tutoring team.

No. Many students benefit from individualized academic support without having a formal diagnosis. If your child is struggling in school, we'll begin by identifying their strengths, learning style, and areas of need through our complimentary assessment.
Every assessment is led by Jeanie Martin, who takes time to understand your concerns and develop a personalized learning plan based on your child's unique needs. If, during that process, she believes additional educational or psychological evaluation may be beneficial, she'll discuss those recommendations with you and help you understand the next steps.

During this meeting, Jeanie takes time to understand your child's strengths, learning style, academic goals, and any areas of concern. She may also review report cards, previous evaluations, or school recommendations if you'd like to share them.
Following the assessment, you'll receive a personalized learning plan along with recommendations for the support that will best help your child succeed.

Every student begins with Jeanie through the assessment and learning plan process.
Depending on your child's goals and learning needs, ongoing instruction may be provided by Jeanie or by another carefully selected member of the Exceptional Cognitions educational team. Every tutor is personally chosen, trained, and supported to provide the same individualized approach that has guided Exceptional Cognitions from the beginning.
If we believe additional educational or psychological evaluation may be beneficial, we'll discuss those recommendations with you.

Absolutely. If your child has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a Section 504 Plan, Jeanie will review those documents as part of developing your child's personalized learning plan. Our goal is to complement the support your child receives at school while helping them build confidence and independence.
